About Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid is a distinguished neurologist with over 30 years of clinical experience in Dhaka. He currently serves as Professor of Neurology at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital, one of Bangladesh’s premier neurology centers. His expertise covers a wide range of brain and nerve disorders, making him one of the Best Neurologist in Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid completed his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital in 1994. He later earned his MD in Neurology from Bangladesh Medical University (former BSMMU) in 2009. He also holds a MAAN from the USA and has attended numerous international conferences, including the American Academy of Neurology and the European Academy of Neurology.

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid is highly skilled in managing epilepsy, stroke, migraine, neuropathy, paralysis, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and movement disorders. He has undergone specialized epilepsy training in Bangkok and Sri Lanka and has published research in national and international journals. He is recognized among leading Neurologist Doctors in the country.

Education and Training

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid passed SSC in 1984 from Nazrul Shikhalaya, Moghbazar and HSC from Dhaka College in 1986. He completed his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College & Mitford Hospital in 1994 and joined the health cadre through the 17th BCS. He earned his MD in Neurology from Bangladesh Medical University in 2009.

Prof. Dr. Shamim Rashid was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2016 and Associate Professor in 2023. He has attended major international congresses including the American Academy of Neurology (USA), European Academy of Neurology (Amsterdam), Stroke Congress (India), and Movement Disorder Conferences (Canada & Hong Kong).
