Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar

Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar completed her MBBS and Diploma in Ophthalmology at the University of Dhaka, followed by an FCPS in Ophthalmology from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons. She later earned the distinguished FRCS degrees from the Royal Colleges of Glasgow and Edinburgh, becoming the first Bangladeshi female ophthalmologist to achieve this honor.

Her long‑term fellowship in vitreo‑retina was undertaken at LV Prasad Eye Institute in Hyderabad, India, and at Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute & Hospital in Dhaka. These experiences equipped her with advanced skills in complex retinal procedures, making her a sought‑after surgeon for challenging cases.

Beyond clinical work, Prof. Dr. Nazmun Nahar serves as a professor and head of the Retina department at Lions Eye Institute and Hospital, Dhaka. She mentors the long‑term retina fellowship program and acts as an examiner for Diploma and FCPS Ophthalmology examinations, shaping the next generation of eye specialists.

She is also recognized for her contributions to the treatment of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), having trained at LVPEI, Hyderabad, and pioneering ROP screening and management across Bangladesh.
